SBMA at 25: Celebrating the Past, Forging the Nation's Future

One sunny Thursday morning, I got my trusted travel bag and went to an adventure with one of my besties, Jocelyn.

Our destination: Subic!

I am very privileged to witness the historical 25th year anniversary of Subic Bay.
SBMA is not new to me because it is our quick escape when we want to unwind. I can clearly recall back when I was a kid, I always hear "Subic" from my family because of my uncle who was a US Navy then.

We arrived at Harbor Point at around 10am of November 23 and we met Mary Elizabeth and her friend. We were fetched by Sir Dante who is our contact person from SBMA's Media Center. He brought us to our home for 3 days, Buena Casa Hotel Subic.

The highlight of this trip is the celebration of SBMA's 25th anniversary that was held on the 24th day of November 2017 at the historical building 229 of SBMA.

We were able to witness the awarding ceremony for the pioneer investors of SBMA and also the giving out of pins to SBMA employees. My CAT and ROTC days were relieved because of the marching band and the honorary drill, followed by the unveiling of the golden plaque in front of Bldg 229.

With happy faces, SBMA people cheered for a very iconic lady who is full of charisma. Parang lahat ng tao ay kilala niya. Then she was introduced as the Chairwoman and Administrator of SBMA,
Atty. Wilma T. Eisma. After a very inspiring speech by Atty Eisma, an exciting surprise is coming..
Ito talaga yung pinakaaabangan ko: the Confetti drop, the water canon and the exhilarating Aerial Exhibition led by the Philippine Airforce.

After the surprises, volunteers gave their testimonials about the historical event that happened 25 years ago. It is so heartwarming because these people are very passionate with camaraderie and volunteerism.

Later in the afternoon, we headed to Harbor Point to witness the opening of the photo exhibit and memorabilia from the past 25 years of SBMA. We came just in time for Secretary Dick Gordon's speech.

And after that event, another highlight nanaman, The float and foot parade na inaabanan.. because of their special guest Mr. Daniel Matsunaga. Biglang naging fan girls ang mga kasama ko. haha

These 3 days that I got to spend with total strangers before but now friends is one for the books.
I really enjoyed the event and company of new friends.
