Journey to An Acne-Free Face

As the title goes, this post will be all about my journey against Acne.

First of all what is acne?

Acne, medically known as Acne Vulgaris, is a skin disease that involves the oil glands at the base of hair follicles. It commonly occurs during puberty when the sebaceous (oil) glands come to life - the glands are stimulated by male hormones produced by the adrenal glands of both males and females. - Medical News Today

I have very oily skin that is why I am prone to acne. And I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS ( which I will discuss in the future ) and it is one of its many symptoms.

Back in high school, well that was roughly 10 years ago, I had this all-out acne/pimple breakout. And it is freaking embarrassing since I am in my awkward age, where you are very conscious with your physical look. It is because I am stressed out with school work, then I joined COCC, thus I am always under the sun. So it really aggravated my skin. Then my mom, bought me the Original Likas Papaya Soap. And it really worked. Up until college, I didn't have those major breakouts. Then I experimented with different products and makeups.

And then, I fell in love. With the same guy that I'll be marrying soon. :) So yes, my skin is really pretty especially I am inspired because I am in love. I need to be beautiful every now and then. :)

Then after college, I had different kinds of jobs. Then I settle down to being a Customer Service Representative also known as a Call Center Agent year 2008. And my horror story began. Graveyard shift, toxic job and stressful task all over. I gained weight really. My skin looked very bad because I always lacked sleep. My period became irregular. And worst, I had breakouts. Well, my acnes are quite tolerable still.

When I have breakouts, my regular regimen includes:

1. Wash face with Maxipeel Soap
2. Apply Maxipeel Exfoliant Solution #3 every other day
3. Moisturize with any cream available at home ( I know right?! )

So it always worked for me. But when my acne subside, I stop this regimen then back to my normal routine which is :

1. Wash face with Ponds ( any variant, Im not that choosy )
2. Use Eskinol toner
3. Moisturize

Since I am earning my own money, I buy whatever I like. I always buy makeup and beauty products. I use everything. I am not conscious about the ingredients or my skin type and what not. I just use whatever I feel using.

2013, I stopped working. I start working at home as a freelance article writer and English tutor. Because my body clock is not ok, I still sleep late at night. (Time check 1:07 am and we are going to Baguio City in a bit so no sleep for me. ) And I am so stressed-out with all of these marriage preparations. So my acne again.. Huhu,, they came back!

But thank you for all the reviews all over the internet. I found my solution. Which I will review one by one in the future. So here is my everyday beauty regimen :

Morning:
* wash face with Beauche Orange Soap
* clean face with Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting toner
* moisturize with Myra- E moisturizer

Evening:
* wash face with St. Ives Apricot Anti-Blemish Scrub ( every single night )
clean face with Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting toner
* moisturize with Maxipeel Exfoliant Cream #3

I don't wear any makeup when I'm at home, well except for my Tony Moly Tint and Human Nature Lip Balm :)

When I go out:

clean face with Dickinson's Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting toner
* apply Maxipeel Exfoliant Cream 3 as primer
* I use either Hayan Korea BB cream or Mary Kay Oil-Free Liquid Foundation or Maxipeel Concealing Cream
* I top it with Nichido Loose Powder
* Apply Cheek Tint for more natural look.
* Human Nature Lip Balm and Faceshop Lip Color or Maybelline Lip Color

I don't put heavy makeup. Eyeshadow and Eyeliner sometimes, especially at night.

I think there is much improvement in my skin now.

See.. My face is much brighter now. The first photo was taken 3 weeks ago. My self-esteem became soooo low really. And the second picture was taken yesterday morning. Don't worry, I will do individual reviews soon :)

Thank you for reading my post. :)

Cheerios,
Marrien <3
